Water paint is a kind of paint which uses water as diluent and does not contain organic solvent. It can be widely used in wood, metal, industrial coating, plastic, glass, building surface and other materials. In the long run, waterborne coating is the future development trend.
Analysis of application fields of waterborne coatings in China
It is believed that the development of waterborne industrial coatings in succession by coating enterprises is undoubtedly good for the environment. It can also lower the brand price of waterborne industrial coatings in the current market and benefit domestic consumers. However, the waterborne industrial coating is a high-end environmental protection product with high technology content, and there are also great differences in the production and painting process. The coating enterprises should step by step in this respect, and should not be in a hurry to achieve success, otherwise the immature waterborne coating products will flow to the market, and the development and operation of the entire waterborne coating industry will be affected. The following is an analysis of the application fields of waterborne coatings in China.
Waterborne industrial coatings are mainly used in automobile, railway vehicle, bridge pipeline, steel structure, container and other fields. At present, the level of waterborne industrial coatings in China is far behind that in developed countries.
Automotive Coatings:
With the rapid development of automobile industry, the amount of automobile coating is increasing. Since 2008, Shanghai GM launched * production lines of waterborne automotive coatings in Shanghai, the new production lines of domestic automotive coatings are all designed with waterborne coatings, which have become the mainstream of automotive coatings. Automobile coating mainly includes primer, intermediate coat and top coat, among which top coat is divided into natural color paint and metallic flash paint. The water-based process of automotive coatings is gradually carried out from the bottom to the surface. As early as the 1960s, developed countries such as Europe and the United States have taken the lead in the use of waterborne electrophoretic primers. At present, more than 90% of the primers have been water-based coatings, 88% of the automotive midcoat has also been water-based technology, and the application of waterborne metallic flash primer has exceeded 65%.
Railway vehicle coating:
Traditional solvent based coatings are mostly used in car body coating, which contains a large number of organic solvents, which brings inconvenience and security risks to storage, transportation and construction. The harmful gases released in the process of production and use of solvent based coatings will have a negative impact on the health of production staff and the atmospheric environment. In developed countries, powder coating, * solid content liquid coating and water-based coating have become the mainstream coating system of railway vehicle manufacturing industry, among which water-based coating is more and more widely used. At present, more than 13000 Huabao water-based industrial coating vehicles have been successfully applied in the field of railway freight cars in China. The products have been verified for more than five years and can reach the quality standard of solvent based products. The development of water-based coating system for railway locomotive and passenger cars has also been completed by Huabao coating company, which has started online testing after coating. The localization and water-based process of coatings in the field of motor car, high-speed railway and rail transit has also entered the work plan of the general railway administration.
Heavy duty anticorrosive coating:
Corrosion and rust of metal products can be seen everywhere in daily life, resulting in waste of resources and energy, economic losses, and sometimes even endangering personal safety. According to some corrosion loss data published by the United States, Japan, Canada and other countries, the direct economic loss caused by corrosion accounts for 1% ~ 4% of the total national economic output value, the annual corrosion of rusty steel accounts for about 20% of the annual output, and about 30% of the equipment is scrapped due to corrosion. The economic loss caused by metal corrosion accounts for about 4% of GDP in China every year. Such an amazing loss stimulates the development of anticorrosive coatings. The development of environment-friendly heavy-duty industrial anticorrosive coatings is a high-tech project that many coating experts in developed countries are actively exploring, and it is a new field in China. In some typical Heavy-duty Coatings Markets, such as infrastructure, oil and gas, power, tank, marine and chemical industries, the use of waterborne coatings is increasing. Water based alkyd system, water-based epoxy system (epoxy micaceous iron midcoat and epoxy zinc rich primer), water-based inorganic zinc rich system and water-based epoxy ester system are used in the field of heavy corrosion protection.
Waterborne container coating:
At present, the annual output of the world is containers exceeds 3.5 million standard containers, and the annual demand for coatings is about 400000 tons, worth about 6 billion yuan. At present, most of the container coatings used in the world are solvent based. In the process of container production and painting, a large number of harmful gases will be produced, which will not only harm the health of painting operators, but also cause environmental pollution. With the increasingly strict environmental protection laws and regulations, the international container Standardization Committee has put forward higher requirements for the environmental protection and sanitation of container coatings: for example, the coatings shall not contain heavy metals such as CD, Pb, Cr, Hg, etc.; non-toxic pigments such as phosphate, etc.; high solid content, low VOC, etc. Acrylic top coat instead of chlorinated rubber top coat and special paint for box bottom are also gradually promoted. The application of waterborne container coating in China has begun to pilot.
